Masterpiece Living earlier this week held its National Lyceum in Denver where more than 250 healthcare professionals and educators visited for three days of learning, networking and brainstorming in the field of successful aging.

Christian Living Communities work in successful aging was on display with several team members and residents attending as well as serving as panelists. Clermont Park’s “Showstoppers” also were featured at the opening session and at the Tuesday luncheon.

Additionally, a busload of attendees from the gathering toured Clermont Park and Someren Glen. Both communities, along with Holly Creek, are Certified Centers for Successful Aging.

CLC President Cindy Hogan, who attended all three days, says she walked away inspired, as were others, by the engagement of CLC residents.

“Clearly people are looking to CLC to be leaders,” Hogan said. “CLC is very proud of the fact that we continue to raise the bar when it comes to redefining how we age.”

Among the national speakers were Dr. Roger Landry, author of the bestselling book “Live Long, Die Short,” Kay Van Norman, founder and president of Brilliant Aging, Dr. Rob Winningham, professor of Psychology & Gerontology at Western Oregon University and Dr. Toni Antonucci, professor of Psychology at the University of Michigan.

Keynote topics included “Being Agents of Change for Successful Aging,” “Rallying Family and Caregivers” and “Creating Meaningful Cognitive Connections.”

Clermont Park resident Jack Wismer was part of a panel that spoke about leveraging human capital. CLC Masterpiece Living Coordinators Patrick Shelton and Beth Corn presented a cognitive balance session called “Can You Walk and Chew Gum at the Same Time,” and Hogan was a panelist for two separate sessions.
