Happy Thanksgiving

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.

President John F. Kennedy

As many of us prepare for a time of thanksgiving with family and friends, I wanted to first thank each of you for the warmest of welcomes to CLC, it truly already feels like home. And second, to encourage each of us, associates, residents and supporters to embrace the act of giving thanks.

The quote above is powerful.  It’s a reminder that to truly express Thanksgiving you not only need to utter the words, you also need to put those words into action.

In many ways I believe that is exactly what we do each and every day at Christian Living Communities in how we provide rich environments to grow and in the quality of services and care we provide older adults.  If you think about it, our daily activities are actions of thanks and deep appreciation. Take for instance the actions of Jan Armani with our Home Care Services.  Jan planned and arranged a high tea for ladies in our Health Suites neighborhood at Clermont Park – not part of her job description, but her action demonstrated great appreciation for the people she serves each and every day.

There is Barb Oatley, a nurse at Someren Glen who has planned Bonfils Blood drives for so many years that we’ve lost count. Her deep appreciation for not only those touched by CLC, but also the greater community is so very evident by her actions.

These two women are PROMISE Stars – people we’ve publicly recognized with our weekly focus on living our values and PROMISE service basics. This Thanksgiving season I would like to ask that each of us reflect on our amazing opportunity to express our thanks – not just with the well-wish, but with actions of Love, Respect and Compassion – and to display our Leadership and Integrity. Because conducting ourselves from a place of thanksgiving brings us the Unity we seek in creating community.

I am so very thankful for each and every person that makes up this community –the CLC family.

A special thanks to those working this Thanksgiving holiday – we all appreciate your efforts and recognize you are truly giving of yourself to make another’s life better.

With sincerest appreciation for all that you do,

Terry Rogers
President and CEO
