Digging In for Beauty and Sustainability

Participating in Clermont Park's Xeriscape ProjectThe Xeriscape Project at Clermont Park began with a resident-led vision of combining outdoor spaces with responsible stewardship of their environment. And thanks to caring supporters like you, that vision is beginning to blossom! As part of Clermont Park’s broader community beautification effort, the initiative enhances shared spaces in ways that reflect beauty, lasting impact, and environmental responsibility.

On June 5, residents and leaders rolled up their sleeves and planted more than 140 plants and flowers as part of Phase One of the Colorado Xeriscape Project. Residents and team members partnered with certified gardener and landscape designer Jennifer Hamlin, who is generously donating her time and expertise to create a sustainable, water-wise plan tailored for the Clermont Park community.

This first step of the project is transforming the entrance to Clermont Park into a vibrant, welcoming space that brings both beauty and sustainability to the forefront, for residents, families, team members, and guests alike.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the incredible residents and team members who dedicated countless hours to clearing old growth and preparing the soil—laying the groundwork for new life to flourish.

Phase One was made possible entirely through a generous gift from a kind CLC supporter, someone who has spent a lifetime nurturing and appreciating outdoor spaces. Many of the plants selected are native to Colorado. The plants offer a rich sensory experience and evoke cherished memories through familiar scents, colors, and textures.

Participating in Clermont Park's Xeriscape ProjectTrue to their name, Clermont Park’s Xeriscape Project reflects a vision of community life that feels like living in a park—natural, welcoming, and full of life. Many residents have long enjoyed gardening, and this project offers a meaningful way to continue that passion. For others, it’s a joyful new discovery of a way to connect with nature, their neighbors, and support their community.

This long-term investment in beauty, sustainability, and community connection is made possible through the generosity of caring supporters like you. With your help, Clermont Park is cultivating more than just plants. They are growing community, citizenship, pride, friendship, and purpose – one flower at a time.

Eco-Friendly Dining Initiative

The Clermont Park community has brought their focus on sustainability inside the community as well. To become betters stewards of the resources to which they have been entrusted, the community turned their attention to reducing disposable waste in their dining program.

Showcasing Clermont Park's New Eco ContainersThanks to the generosity of kind supporters like you, Clermont Park was able to purchase eco-containers and reusable bags for residents to use. The donor-funded eco-container project has made a noticeable difference at Clermont Park. The new containers and bags have reduced waste, improved mealtime experiences, and inspired a shared sense of accomplishment and purpose.

Clermont Park residents have quickly embraced the change, praising the sturdiness of the new containers, their better heat retention, and fewer leaks. “The containers are so much better than what we used before,” one resident shared. “They keep the food warm and don’t leak, which is a huge win.”

More importantly, residents are proud to be contributing to a more sustainable community. “I’m proud to help out and know I’m doing something that will make a real difference,” another resident reflected.

One ongoing challenge is making sure that residents are returning containers to the dining room. Fortunately, most residents are committed to the program, and additional efforts are underway to make returns easier for everyone.

These gifts have already made a lasting impact by eliminating the need for plastic bags and significantly reducing disposable waste. With continued resident participation and growing enthusiasm, this eco-friendly effort that you made possible is thriving, and here to stay!
