“Beautiful hands are they that do / Deeds that are noble, good and true”
– McGuffey’s Second Reader
As part of the CLC community, you are almost certainly aware of the incredible kindness and compassion of our team members. It’s baked right into our culture and highlighted in our value that We! Care: “We build relationships characterized by compassionate listening, genuine understanding, and unconditional love.”
Last month’s 10th Annual Give a Hand team member giving campaign was a heartwarming demonstration of their kindness and love! 59 CLC team members from all around the organization pledged more than $28,500 in gifts to help the colleagues they work with and the older adults they support.
8 new team members signed up this year to Give a Hand for the first time, and 21 team members pledged to make an even greater impact by increasing the amount of their Give a Hand gift.
Nora Adams, Executive Administrative Assistant at Holly Creek, increased her gift to the Resident Assistance Fund. “My relationship with all of the residents is so special,” she says. “If there’s something that I can do to help them with something that is out of their control, even if it’s something small, I will do so.”
Give a Hand is an easy way for team members to give right from their paycheck. They choose the amount they would like to give per pay period and the fund they would like to support. Their gift is then automatically given to the fund that they chose with every paycheck, increasing the impact of their generosity over time.
Team members chose between five impactful CLC funds:
- Team Member Critical Needs Fund – provides financial support to qualifying team members experiencing unexpected emergency circumstances
- Employee Scholarship Fund – funds the development of team members through tuition assistance.
- Resident Assistance Fund – provides assistance to qualifying older adults who have outlived their financial resources
- General Mission Fund – supports the most pressing needs of the organization.
- Chaplain Fund – provides support for enhanced chaplain services.
According to America’s Charities more than $5 billion is given each year in the US through workplace giving programs. This amount is likely to increase in future years. More organizations are looking to workplace giving to empower team member engagement in their local communities and to build an organizational culture of philanthropy.
The Give a Hand campaign is only one of the ways that CLC team members give back. Their generosity is always on display – serving on committees, volunteering for community events, and spending time with the older adults and families they support. Many team members donate wine and auction items for Aged to Perfection and make gifts to support CLC through Colorado Gives Day. CLC team members consistently uplift those around them with care and kindness. Their unconditional compassion and love is a huge part of what makes CLC communities an amazing place to work and to live!
