The landscape of long-term care is changing—and so are the opportunities for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who want to grow, specialize, and make an even greater impact. Christian Living Communities (CLC) is proud to announce that applications are now open for our Spring 2026 CNA Medication Aide Authority Training Program. This intensive, state-approved program is designed to equip CNAs with advanced skills in medication administration while strengthening care teams across Colorado.
Spring 2026 CNA Medication Aide Authority Training Program
April 6 through May 1, 2026
As one of only six state-approved programs authorized to certify CNAs to participate in the medication administration process, this training represents a significant step forward for both individual caregivers and the communities they serve. With limited class sizes, expert instruction, and a strong emphasis on safety and compassion, our Medication Aide program is built for CNAs who are ready to elevate their careers.
We are thrilled to help advance the careers of healthcare professionals dedicated to serving in long-term care settings with this program. While helping the individual, we are also helping senior living communities who are striving to continue to offer excellent care in challenging staffing situations. By having more highly trained CNA’s communities are expanding the services offered by each team member.”
- Angela Allen, Vice-President of Clinical Services for Christian Living Communities.
What Is a Medication Aide?
A medication aide is a specialized type of nursing assistant whose primary responsibility is administering medications to patients in long-term care and other approved medical settings. This role is both challenging and deeply fulfilling. Medication aides become trusted, consistent members of a resident’s care team, ensuring medications are delivered safely, accurately, and respectfully.

As the needs of older adults grow and staffing challenges continue across healthcare, medication aides offer a creative and effective staffing solution. They allow licensed nurses to focus on higher-level clinical responsibilities while ensuring residents receive timely, attentive medication support from highly trained professionals.
For CNAs, becoming a Medication Aide opens the door to expanded responsibilities, increased confidence, and meaningful career advancement—all while staying rooted in hands-on, person-directed care.
A High-Quality, State-Approved CNA Medication Aide Training Experience
CLC’s CNA Medication Aide Training Program is carefully structured to meet state requirements while exceeding expectations for quality and depth. Each session runs for 15 fast-paced days, requiring full commitment to coursework, labs, and clinical experiences.
The CNA Medication Aide Training program includes:
- 60 hours of classroom and lab education, covering medication fundamentals, safety protocols, dosage calculations, infection control, documentation, and ethical responsibilities.
- 40 hours of supervised clinical education, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world long-term care settings.
- Instruction taught by Trista Weinmaster, a Registered Nurse with two decades of clinical field experience, bringing real-life insight, practical knowledge, and mentorship into every lesson.
This focused format ensures participants develop a comprehensive understanding of medication administration and can apply it safely and effectively in practice.
Commitment to Compassionate, Person-Directed Care
At the heart of this program is our commitment to preparing high-quality, compassionate, and knowledgeable CNA Medication Aides. Medication administration is not just a technical skill, it’s a deeply human one. Every dose represents trust, dignity, and responsibility.

Our training emphasizes respectful communication, attention to detail, and person-directed care that honors each individual’s needs, preferences, and safety. Graduates leave the program not only confident in their technical abilities but also grounded in the values that define excellent caregiving.
Who Should Apply for CNA Medication Aide Training?
This program is open to all CNAs in the state of Colorado with at least 1,000 documented work hours in the last two years who are ready to take the next step in their professional journey. Ideal candidates are CNAs who:
- Want to advance their career and expand their scope of practice
- Are eager for a fast-paced, focused learning environment
- Are committed to safe, ethical, and compassionate care
- Want to better serve Colorado’s older adults
- Are ready to fully engage in classes, labs, and clinical sessions
To maintain a high level of instruction and hands-on support, each class is limited to just ten CNAs. The cost of the program is $1,500, representing an investment in long-term career growth and professional development.
Supporting Stronger Care Teams and Communities
Beyond individual career advancement, this program plays a vital role in supporting long-term care communities across Colorado. Highly trained medication aides help facilities meet staffing needs, improve efficiency, and enhance continuity of care for residents.
Our goal is simple but powerful: to graduate medication aides who can safely and effectively administer medications in long-term care settings, strengthening care teams and improving quality of life for older adults. We all “rise together” with a better trained and more compassionate workforce serving Colorado’s older adults.
