Volunteers are the founding cornerstone of our organization. In 1969, a concerned group of volunteers began an effort to provide quality Christian care for their elders.

The road was tough – a lack of funding, regulation and governance – but volunteers helped open the doors to what is now CLC on May 7, 1972. Today, more than 400 men and women partner with CLC associates daily in empowering older adults to live an enriched life.

“My home at The Village (Now Someren Glen) the past five years has put Life into Living in my older years, for which I am truly grateful. It has allowed me time to volunteer, mainly at The Village Square gift shop and with Life Enrichment projects. That has provided me a greater opportunity to meet people and socialize with them. What I have gained far exceeds the efforts I’ve put forth.”
-Alma Hershinger, Resident and Volunteer at Someren Glen.
