As we approach two extraordinary anniversaries - the 250th birthday of the United States and Colorado’s 150th year of statehood - we are proud to celebrate the individuals who make our organization, our state, and our nation strong.

To honor this historic moment, Christian Living Communities (CLC) is launching Our People | Our Legacy: CLC Stories for USA 250 | CO 150 Year, an effort to gather and preserve stories from across our CLC family. These are the stories of residents, families, team members, volunteers, and friends whose lives, work, and passions reflect the values that continue to shape our communities both locally and nationally.

Every Story Matters

We believe history isn’t just found in textbooks; it lives in the experiences of people who serve, lead, care, create, and show up for one another. Whether your story highlights military service, community leadership, caregiving, advocacy, innovation, or quiet acts of kindness, it is part of the larger story of who we are.

We invite you to share:

  • A short description of the individual or story
  • Photos or memorabilia (if available)
  • Contact information so we can follow up

Submitted stories will be reviewed for potential use across printed publications, website features, special events, and commemorative projects as we celebrate these milestone anniversaries.

Maybe This Story Will Get You Thinking!

We know there are amazing stories within our ranks. Watch this video of a resident of Holly Creek whose contributions helped end WWII.

Connecting to a Statewide Legacy: A Portrait of Colorado at 150

As part of this initiative, we will also explore opportunities to submit selected stories to A Portrait of Colorado at 150, a statewide storytelling project led by The America 250 – Colorado 150 Commission, in partnership with History Colorado.

This signature initiative will curate at least 150 individual stories from all 64 counties, capturing the diverse voices and lived experiences that define Colorado today. Through oral history recordings, community events, and local partnerships, the project aims to fill historic gaps, amplify underrepresented voices, and ensure every Coloradan’s story has a place in our shared narrative.

This signature initiative is about connection. Each of us has a story to tell, and A Portrait of Colorado at 150 reminds us that our shared history is built from individual lives. Out of many, we are one; we are Colorado.”

Jason Hanson, Commissioner and Chief Creative Officer for History Colorado

With generous support from the Next50 Foundation, the project places special emphasis on honoring the voices of older adults, recognizing the role they’ve played in shaping our state’s past and present.

History Colorado’s curatorial and oral history experts will travel across the state, partnering with communities to record stories, scan photographs, and provide free tools and resources so Coloradans can preserve and share their histories for generations to come.

Help Us Tell the Story

This is our moment to reflect, to honor, and to pass forward the stories that define us. If you, or someone you know within our CLC family, has a story worth sharing, we encourage you to be part of this meaningful effort.

Together, we can ensure that our people and our legacy are remembered; not just as history, but as living stories that continue to shape our future.

Because every story matters—and every voice belongs.
