Meet Ben, Your Res Tech Expert

Ben Mercer

      IT Support Specialist

Ben Mercer got his start in computing around age five, when his dad brought home a Commodore VIC-20. Since then, he's been the go-to tech support for friends and the non-profits he’s worked with, after graduating from the University of Kansas with a degree in English and a minor in Psychology—so naturally, he ended up in IT.

Over 10 years ago, Ben went professional as an IT Support Specialist and has been helping people with their devices ever since.

His first smartphone was a BlackBerry—before iPhones even existed. Since then, he’s worked extensively with Androids, iPhones, Google devices, iPads, and the apps that go with them. He's been streaming music since the early iTunes days and movies/TV since Hulu was the only name in the game.

Ben can troubleshoot all of the above, plus printers and internet issues. He’s also happy to coach you on how to use your devices and apps during his regular visits to your CLC location.

In addition, Ben leads monthly Tech Talks, covering topics like spotting scams or getting more out of your phone’s photo app.
